Event Details

Physiotherapy Management of Concussion is for healthcare practitioners who wish to better understand the science and clinical management of concussions.  This full- day course focuses on the evidence-based practice of differential diagnosis, manual examination and treatment of patients whose symptoms have a cervicogenic component.  Participants will have the opportunity to: familiarize themselves with neuropsychological baseline testing; rule out acute spinal injury on-field; use standardized assessment tools to diagnose concussion; acquire examination and management skills; and acquire an understanding of best-practice return to play guidelines following concussion.  Participants should have a basic working knowledge of the anatomy and biomechanics of the cervical spine.  Pre-assigned readings will familiarize the participant with the relevant literature, allowing the majority of time and emphasis to be on clinical competency. Therapists will be able to immediately apply acquired skills in the clinical setting.
