ATOM EGOYAN IN PERSON: THE SCREENING
Arts Court Theatre, Thursday, November 10, 2016, 7:30 pm

[Featuring the film Citadel (dir. Atom Egoyan, Canada, 2006, 93 min.)]

Egoyan’s handmade, no-budget DIY feature is extremely rare, and is only screened when he is present. The film follows Egoyan and his wife, actress and professional partner Arsinée Khanjian, and their son Arshile, as they return to the Armenian section of Beirut, Lebanon where she grew up. Mixing documentary, home movie, fiction, and experimental modes, Egoyan ‘documents’ the entirety of their vacation and personal journeys across East and West Beirut with a small DV-cam. At the same time Citadel also provides a deeply personal examination of the cultural policies and politics in Lebanon at the time. And, as always in Egoyan, there are some unexpected elements that cloud the distinctions between fiction and non-fiction.

Doors open at 6:30pm. Atom Egoyan will introduce CITADEL and participate in a discussion after the screening. Following this event, there will be a special Atom Egoyan themed party in the Arts Court Studio. Cash bar, silent auction of special Egoyan items, a video greeting area where you can record your own message to him, and lots of other fun activities.

Doors open each night at 6:30pm, with the event starting promptly at 7:30pm. Ticket (digital or printout) must be presented at the door for admission. You must also present valid ID if Discount Code is used for purchase. If you have any questions, please contact the CFI offices at 613-232-6727 or info@cfi-icf.ca.
