Event Details

#BNFF16 Launch Party
Silent Film: "The Abyss" (dir. Urban Gad, Denmark, 1910) & the ORIENTEERS

The Bright Nights Launch happens in style this year, as we throw a one-of-a-kind party in support of the 6th annual Bright Nights Baltic-Nordic Film Festival. Come out, bring, your pals and enjoy a chilled-out-night-out while supporting the arts, local talent, and a great collection of films from the Baltic-Nordic region.

WHO? You, us, Ottawa space-folk band Orienteers, and our friends at the Baltic-Nordic Embassies

WHAT? Live local music by Orienteers, Danish silent film THE ABYSS (dir. Urban Gad, 1910), prizes, food & drink

WHERE? Black Box Studio and Arts Court Theatre

WHEN? February 3, 6:30PM until whenever.

HOW? Eat some free food, sample Baltic-Nordic liqueurs/spirits, enjoy beverages at the bar, enter to win prizes, learn more about the Bright Nights films, and watch the band and silent film in a totally unique atmospheric experience of sound and light.

WHAT'S THE FILM ABOUT? A love triangle leads to adventure, turmoil, and unsavoury behaviour. According to the (always-true) Wikipedia, Asta Nielsen's performance catapulted her to international fame, but because of the overt eroticism of her portrayal of Magda Vang, the film was originally censored in the United States.
