Event Details

The course Fascial Therapy with Fazer gives a brief theoretical insight into the topic fascia, possibilities of device-based treatment and current research. The practical element focuses on the clinical applications of Fazer. The participants will work on the various techniques of instrument assisted soft tissue (fascia) therapy collectively. The Fazer techniques and instruments, with their unique shape and material, are quick to apply, easy to grasp, and produce excellent results. The course is interactive and focuses on the practical application of the devices with a special addition “Fazer and competitive sport".

Presenters:

Dr. Robert Schleip  (1 hr. presentation via Skype)

Robert Schleip directs the Fascia Research Project at Ulm University, Germany and is the Research Director of the European Rolfing Association.  He is a certifies Rolfing Instructor and Feldenkrais teacher.  He is author and co-editor of several books and has written numerous research articles. For his discovery of active contractile properties in fascial tissues he was awarded the prestigious Vladimir Janda Award for Musculoskeletal Medicine.  He was co-initiator and organizer of the first Fascia Research Congress held in Boston, USA in 2007.

Beatrix Baumgarnter, MsPT, DO

In addition to being a physiotherapist and osteopath, Trixi Baumgartneris is a Fascial Distortion Model (FDM) instructor, Fascial Fitness master trainer, and a member of the ARTZT expert training team in Europe.

In 2014, Trixi founded the Fascia Center in Vienna along with Karin Mugge, Trixi also lecturers at national and international congresses teaching FDM, Fazer, Myofascial taping, Flossing, and Fascial Fitness.

Dr. Wilbour Kelsick, BSc, DC, FRCCSS(C), FCCRS(C) Sports Chiropractor

Founder and Clinical Director of MaxFit Movement Institute based in Port Moody, BC.

He has been working with Canadian National and Olympic teams as a member of the official medical staff for over 15 years. He has worked at ten Olympic Games on the medical staff. In addition he has been a sports medicine consultant with Olympic athletes from USA, Africa, Caribbean, and Sweden to name a few. His education and experience position him perfectly for this role.  Wilbour Kelsick’s network of colleagues and friends, gathered in his more than 25 years as a health practitioner, expands what he can offer. He has presented extensively and conducts workshops in Europe, Australia, Caribbean, Africa. He has being lecturer and presenter at Ulm university summer school for several years; connect 2013 sports conference, fascia congress.

Dr. Kelsick received his B. Sc. in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University, his Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. His two specialties are sports medicine and rehabilitative medicine and is a Fellow of the College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) and the College of Chiropractic Rehabilitative Sciences (Canada)

He has recently added to the pool of running knowledge as the author of one of the chapters in a recently published book titled Fascia in Sport and Movement(Handspring Publishing, 2014).
