When a subway train breaks down in between stations one morning, the passengers aboard find themselves stranded. They are annoyed and frustrated but forced to interact and, for some, prejudice and negativity begin to turn the close quarters into a hostile environment. Things change, however, when the passengers get news of a national tragedy. As these strangers are stricken by a collective grief layers of bitterness are stripped away, allowing them to see each other as more than random people sharing their commute. What begins as an inconvenience becomes an opportunity to open up to those around you and share in their experience. The debut feature from filmmaker and motivational speaker Tedy Necula, BESIDE ME is a thought-provoking rumination on kindness and hope.
