Likening himself to a hero from the American frontier, Karist Camilleri hopes to make Malta a territory of the United States if elected to office. Motivated by his own interests, the conniving Tommy encourages Karist’s quixotic delusions and offers to help with his campaign, much to the embarrassment of his son John. Although he believes he has a real chance, Karist becomes a national celebrity and the subject of ridicule as people across the nation mockingly cheer him on. Tensions rise as John tries to put a stop to Tommy’s cruel spectacle and wills his father to come to terms with reality. Capturing the quirkier side of recent Maltese politics, LIMESTONE COWBOY weaves a universal tale of courage and family into a homegrown story.
