After becoming pregnant out of wedlock, 18-year-old Zahira is pressured by her parents to choose one of three Pakistani men for an arranged marriage. Although she is close to her parents Zahira is torn between pleasing them, or living a less restricted Western lifestyle like her Belgian peers. Tensions mount when Zahira begins dating a local mechanic and opposes the wedding plans, drawing a line between her and the rest of her family. Previously Zahira’s confidant, her brother Amir grows increasingly resentful of Zahira’s challenge to tradition and her parent’s wishes. An official selection of multiple film festivals world-wide and winner of two Magritte Awards, A WEDDING has been praised for its slow-burn narrative grounded in powerful lead performances.

Presented with English subtitles.
