Event Details

Bring your heart and soles for this special sacred dance weekend as we explore the rhythms of Afro-Brazilian dance and sample other sacred dance styles too.

Our first evening will find us “tasting” sacred dance appetizers and meeting our main facilitator for the weekend, Kim Vetter. Kim is an extremely popular teacher and comes to us direct from Baltimore. On Saturday we seriously step into the Afro-Brazilian groove, learning songs and dances celebrating some of this tradition’s “Orisha” gods and goddesses and trying on some samba too! We return again in the evening for an ecstatic dance jam, where you are free to dance as the spirit moves you.

On Sunday morning we will bring a dance offering to the regular weekly service of the Neighbourhood Unitarian Universalist Congregation, our dance weekend hosts.

Come dance with us! No dance experience necessary. Light refreshments provided.

About our facilitator: Kim Vetter is a dance artist, teacher and student of life who creates work with the intention of facilitating transformation. She is the artistic director of Kosmic Dance Theatre, holds an M.A. focused on Dance in the African Diaspora in northeast Brazil and an M.F.A. from UCLA in World Arts and Culture. Kim is a facilitator of conscious dance who hopes to make dance as accessible as possible for anyone who wants to move..

About registrations: We encourage you to use our online Snapup Tickets registration service so that we can easily and efficiently keep track of who is coming and payments. If for some reason you are unable to use the service, please contact Moira MacDonald (moiramacdonald@rogers.com) to make alternate payment arrangements. Registrations may also be accepted at the door, subject to space availability and a 10% surcharge. As we have a capacity limit of 50, the organizers may need to restrict ticket sales to ensure we do not go beyond capacity.
